Nostalgia :(

From the last two years I have been listening songs of Rihanna, Taylor Swift, T Pain, Soulja Boy etc etc.... the list is endless... they have given some awesome songs which I have been hearing since the last couple of years... But just one song, one tune... "tara vina shyaam mane ekladu laage, raas ramvane vehlo aavje", makes me forget all the songs, makes me forgot the place I live in, makes me want to go back to the place where I can spend those nine nights as the best nights of the year. There is NOTHING, i wrote it in capitals cuz i mean it loud and clear, there is nothing than can beat it. Irrespective of the place you might be right now, a guy or a gal like me, who is a garba fanatic, would die to be home these 9 days.

I can still recall those moments in my head, n its not just a vague picture. Its very clear. Never was there a day when I was in Baroda and I missed doing garba. The garba there are amazing. Its colorful, vibrant, young, refreshing. Looks like a celebration, a celebration of Life. The enthusiasm is same all nine days. And its not just me but there are thousands of people like me. Trust me guys you can never see better garba anywhere else. I can bet anything on that.

Getting ready for garba, wearing dhotis n kurtas.... trying to match everything, and wear nine different outfits all nine days, I remember each and every thing. Picking up the girls from their places, getting stuck in the traffic lines for parking, calling people to arrange somehow for VIP parking, so that we could save on some time. Walking in the grounds, with thousands dancing around on the tunes, cuz we were never early to the garba, waiting for a fast number to be sung and then entering, dancing till the last beat. Man I miss those moments. And the same thing continues in the second half after the aarti. The dancing is more intense and vigorous now. People dance till they run out totally on their energy. The break time is also fun.. checking out the gals in pretty chaniya cholis, checking who has the maximum backless cholis hehehe... eating those orange candies, n papdi no lot... I can keep on writing about it... m gettin nostalgic...

This is the only time in the year when I think what am I doing here in the US. There is so much I miss being here. Such feelings come often but this season is when those feelings at its peak. There is nothing more I guess I can miss than not being in Baroda during Navratri... I wish, I really do to be in India during this time... God knows when will that happen.

I miss those moments, those fun times with my friends, dancing all night. The only thing I am left here with is the videos which I can see, thanks to youtube. And a couple of garba nights that I go, which aint fun at all, when c0mpared to the united way in Baroda. Going clubbing and grinding with unknown chicks aint fun, fun is what you feel when you dance in one tune with thousands of others. Listening to rap, hip hop aint fun, fun is listening to the tunes on which you cant wait to start dancing.

"Aee karshan bhagwaan halya.. dwarika ne kai.. lidho maniyara valo vesh... ke hove hove"... I miss it :(

GUJJU..... :)

Before I start writin, i should admit that I realise how lazy a person I am. The frequency of me posting has been decreasing day by day. Anyways I am sorry to people to like to read and up yours to guys who dont care... hehe.. .

The last few of my posts have been quite sad. There have been people who have cried reading it. If not no one I can assure Khushi would have cried.. hehe.. Anyways so no more sad time.. no more talking about the guys who have left Chicago.. Oh by that I just remembered that Ashiq has also left Chicago and is being missed.. So this post shall be dedicated to him.. And the best topic I could relate to him is GUJJU.
Yes guys, this post is going to be about Gujjus, the guys who belong from the land of food, food, food, and Narendra Modi.

A few people I have seen have that misconception that gujjus are stingy. Let me clarify that first. Making money, I mean a lot of money, and being stingy are two different things. Having a lot of money in you bank account doesnt mean that you keep saving and dont spend. Infact, it means that even after spending , you are saving so much.

New Jersey. I guess jsut writing that much is enough to make you smile. Its a part of Gujarat. I mean 9 out of 10 gujjus you ask, they would want to go to the US. They dont say the US. It is said as "States". And more than half come n settle in this sister concern state of Gujarat called New Jersey. I mean all a gujju thinks and works hard, when he is back home in India, is about how to reach the "states". All the time, money and energy if channeled somewhere else would make Gujarat a better place than New Jersey.

People get married to citizens, childs get adopted by uncles, some walk through the borders of Mexixo or Canada. For what? Some card they refer as "Green card". And what is that card for?? To do some labor job here in the US. But thats the story of a very small portion of the crowd. Even after working hard for years, gujjus here know what the finally want. It will be either a gas station, motel, subway, dunkin, convinient store, restaurant or a liquor store. The choices are limited. And its not limited because we dont venture anywhere else. Its because we only fall into businesses that will give you back huge profits.

The punchline of Dunkin Donuts is "America runs on Dunkin". I say "Dunkin runs on Gujjus". More than half of the countrys Dunkin are owned or operated by Gujjus. Just a quick glance at the reality. Of the 9 Motels here at the exit where I work, 6 of those are owned by Gujjus.

Anyways let me come to some eating habit of gujjus. I guess people in this world eat to live. And we gujjus, we live to eat. hehehe... The gujju ladies, married aunties, who are housewives, which most of them are. The only thing they do is cook cook cook. Before they go to sleep, they prepare everything for the next days lunch. Not to forget the huge dabbas filled with different snack items for breakfast, with "chai". Just as we guys finish having lunch, the first sentence we speak "chalo bav khavai gayu, ave thodu unghi jaiye". When translated this means "I have eaten a lot today, let me sleep for a bit". Trust me on this guys, the best of businesses remain closed in the afternoon in Gujarat for a simple reason- Afternoon sleep. We work less hours than you, but still make more money... hehehe... Around four in the afternoon-"bav bhookh laagi che, chalo vada paav mangavye".... translated version " I am hungry again, lets order some vada paav". And then dinner around 8. you guys must be thinking thats it.. No its not over yet... post dinner "chalo ice cream khava jaiye"..."come lets go eat ice cream". And than later at night people like me ashiq... start searching the fridge for left overs, for a simple reason, we cant just sit and watch TV... we always need something to munch on.. hehe... And the meals are not just one or two items in the plate, its like a lot of it... If gujjus stop eating, hunger from India will be gone hehehehe..

Let me take this opportunity to talk a lil bit about typical gujju dressing sense also. The generation which you see now is much better. But rewind a few years back, and you would see wierd dressing combination like formal trousers and sports shoes, Coloured tshirt and formal trousers, jeans and a collared shrt which is buttoned till the top, not to forget full sleeves not folded. Hair properly combed with partition. jeans and leather chappals.. not the flip flop kinds.. but the gandhi kinds hehehe... And believe me or not, we think we are the most happening hehehe... huge huge misconception. And gujju's way of speaking English is also the best. It the most hilarious accent you will ever listen to. Ever imagined a gujju speaking "yo wassup man, whats going on"... think about it.. you will laugh on it..hehehe...

How can forget to mention about a Gujju wedding. Its a celebration, a celebration for life. A gujju wedding is the best occasion you would ever see.. Its bright, its lively, its colorful, its happy. Irrespective of the fact that gujju females overdress themselves, it is one of the best things about the gujju culture. Its like a holiday, a four to five day program, with everyday showing you different colors of the gujju culture. And OMG.. gujju gals... they are beautiful. Its a saying in Gujarat "Never fall in love with someone during a wedding or Navratri".. this is because all the gujju gals loook hotttt with their backless cholis and elegant saaris. hehehe....

Anyways I have made a lot of fun about gujjus. Not to forget that I myself am a gujju. No matter what people may say, i believe that gujjus know how to live life to the fullest. Even after so many incidences like the earthquake, riots, flood, plague, etc etc.. Gujarat stands as the most developed state in the whole nation. From Australia to US, gujjus have been successful everywhere, and still have not seperated from the roots. A gujju will always remain a gujju no matter which place he goes. You would find a gujju in the most unexpected of places, cities, countries.. and there too he would be doing his business. Its in the blood. We dont need a MBA to do a business. Without any formal education, huge companies have been set up.

From Gandhi and Sardar Patel to Narenda Modi, great leaders have been born there. From Relaince and Nirma to Adani, great businesses have flourised there. Gujarat has developed and continues to. And this would not have been possible without the gujjus who you have been laughing on through out the whole post. We might eat more, we might dress different. Our accents might be funny. We might not have the knowledge of anything else other than the business we run. But at the end, all these qualities makes us what we are. And I can definitely say without a doubt, I am very proud to be a GUJJU.

Memories....

M back again guys... been long I have updated my blog... basically thats cuz nothin great is happening here in Chicago... Summer is supposed to be a good time, a fun time, but m strnaded here in my one bedroom appt of mine, shuttling between my appt n the motel. Thats how the last three months have been for me, but yea havent stopped partyin though. There have been variouss reasons to party, a few birthdays, a few couple of farewells, and it shall continue... cuz the day is comin.. 12th aug.. unfortunately my birthday hehe...

I like meeting new people, being friends with them, spending some quality time, but the worst time comes when I have to bid goodbye to them. I know, life never stops, u have to carry on blah blah blah.... But I am someone who does not like too many changes. One fine day you are sitting sipping on some beer, preparing chicken tikka on the bbq, talking bullshit, and the next day you are at the airport early in the morning, hugging them goodbye, that too real quick cuz the airport authorities dont allow you to stand there for too long. I hate it. I know "hate" is too strong a word to mention here cuz its not that we are not going to meet for life or anything like that, but it hurts.

There are not may people in life that touch your heart in some or the other way.. and two of those few people just left chicago within a span of one week. I know I have to carry on, do my work, and once I get busy I wont even have the time to think about it. But that doesnt change how I feel. All the beautiful moments spent together, those two years, can never come back n can never be forgotten.

I am not someone who would cry easily, but over the last week I was left few times with my emotions choked. First time when I dropped Pooja n Vibhor at the airport, on my way back from there. I am gonna go to NJ next week but still, that instant feeling of someone parting from you is not good. Although it has its own beauty, in that, its the only time, apart from when you are drunk, that all those memories come back to you. You cherish those moments you spent together and you start valuing people more when they go away.Of all those more than five or six years that I have known her, I actually never got a chance to know her personally till the last couple of years. And let me tell you that those times were amazing. I miss her, I miss her food, I miss the way she keeps on cribbing about small small things, her endless list of tensions. Someone to take care of me when I got drunk.

You might not be able to meet or talk daily but at the back of it, all those thoughts that arise from not being together, brings you closer, makes you value more of each other, without you even realising it.

The other time, when I was helping Kanwar n Khushi move out from their appt. When taking out the last peice of baggage of the door, seeing the whole place empty, felt wierd, felt sad, felt that why do things have to come to an end. But for a new thing to start, old one has to end. But seeing the whole place empty, all those memories flashed back, those get togthers, or just me n kanwar having some beer and seein Friends in his room n khushi making butter chicken in the kitchen. All those times, I swear, can never come back. Spending one year there and moving out from there would not have been easy for them too. The emotions they might have gone through would be exponential to what I felt.

Dropping Kanwar at the airport was not as bad as anyone would have thought, probably cuz I was too tired and sleepy from the last day moving. But suddenly realised the absence of him when took the first sip or beer that very evening. He has left Chicago, for his good, to persue his PhD. Its good, m happy for him, but sudden absence of someone leaves a blank, a space, that is hard to be filled. Its not daily that you get close to someone in such short span of time, and he is one of those. I miss someone calling me "Modi", miss someone who I can have beer with, miss someone who criticizes me when others appreciate me, and many more things that I miss. The list is endless.

With people slowly moving out, leaves only a few people in this huge place with who you can relate to. Pooja and Kanwar, you surely are missed by everyone and will be missed. I would never say this in person but writing is the only means by which I can let out my emotions. Those times will surely come back. There will again be times when we all will be together, reliving those moments.

At this moment... one quote that I can think of... "Though our communication wanes at times of absence, I'm aware of a strength that emanates in the background."

Love you guys, miss you.

Extras... continued...

About a year back... i wrote about a few friends of mine here in Chicago that made my stay worth here.. i termed them as "Extras"... but they mean much more than that... Extras is just a funny term to be used.. ok chalo the extras who i mentioned before bahut khush mat ho jaao.. extras ho.. extras hi rahoge hehee.....

a lot of people have come.. touched my life in some or the other way.. some of them stayed.. some of them carried on... but everyone left some good and some bad memories which can be cherished life long....

so in this post I shall mention a few more "extras" that have made a difference in my life here in Chicago...

So to start with... ( i guess there cannot be a better start to the list of names)... presenting one of its kind... very rarely found types on this earth... its the one and only........

Ashish Patel- i could write pages about this guy and the only and the only world i would write on all the pages that describes him best is "LAZY". He is like the laziest guy i have seen till today.. trust me... m not kidding.. he is very fond of 2 places actually.... 1204 and 7-11 on lake and wabash... cuz he is always found in one of these 2 places... I guess he was born to play FIFA on his computer.. ok let me tell u his schedule. this is how it goes... he wakes up at 11.. plays soccer on his laptop (how the laptop is will be described later in detail)... then gets out of his bed... eats hashbrowns n bread.. goes back in his comforter.. plays soccer or watches simpsons... gets ready in his typical red n black 7-11 tshirt.. goes to work at 4 till 11 at night.. comes home at 12.. again eats hashbrowns n bread.. watches friends or simpsons again while eating... play a few games of soccer before going to bed and finally goes to bed ... this is how he is all the days 24/7.... only there r a few days when we get lucky like once or twice in a month when he agrees to come out with us.
let me describe his laptop for u briefly ... the most amazin thing present today trust me... it is literally broken into 2 peices joined by red cellophane tape but still it works perfectly... his laptop belongs to the family of nawabs... cant stand on its own.. needs a pillow always behind to support the screen.. it contradicts its own name cuz we can neva put it on our lap...
but an amazin guy to be roomies with.. simple lifestyle.. no tensions... and by the way as per i know he is a very passionate lover .... like hindi movies hehe... n yea vibhor loves givin him different hairstyles.. and seriously if a little bit of remodellin is done on this guy... he can easily get laid hehe...
be the same always... just a lil bit more optimistic plzzz.. more active energetic n enthusiastic... other than that u have everything in u.. god bless....

Kanwardeep aka kanwar- the best sentence that justifies his personality is "proud to be a desi". a true desi by heart, speech and actions... an avid speaker of badwords, for who his hair is more important than anything else. The length of his hair is longggggg... got pitch black hair in good volume, even a gal would get jealous seein it.. but personally speaking.. i would love it if he gets a haircut, which i know he wont.. works under Dr Menhart and somewhat looks like him too.. due to the mere resemblence of the length of their hair.
I can still not imagine that in these 2 yrs in Chicago, i did not talk to this guy for 1 n half yrs. its been like 6t months only since we have started talking. He is at his best when drunk hehe.. together between us we have gulped down so many bottles of beer, which can never even be counted. And like Ashish is with FIFA.. this guy is with mafia... a day without playing mafia on facebook is a day wasted for him. he is addicted to it till such extent that he even made fake facebook profiles to add to the mafia frnds list.
Likes smoking, at times but tries to hide it frm her gal. he doesnt lie to her abt smokin. he just hides it. thts wht he says hehe... a very serious guy when it comes to studies. no matter how much we drink, party, do bullshit but when its time for the lab, it is time for the lab, there is no alternative to that. A scientist in the making. Gonna go pursue his PhD in some uni in NC state. Lets see how long he could be without us arnd.. a very genuine being with a very composed head.. cheers man.. lovvv

Khushdeep aka khushi- "Oh my God"(Chandler style) are the words anyone would say when they eat khushis cooked food.. an awesomeeeeeeeeeeee cook... makes the best butter chicken i have had till today... as it is said.. good things comes in small packages. I would slightly alter that statement and say that "the best things come in smaller than small packages". She is the smallest gal (in hieght) you could ever find. she is so small that the "XS" sized tops in express r also big for her... hehe but plzz dont ever try to judge how she is by her height. Looks like a kid, but behaves like a mom when we guys r drunk...
and once again.. its strange that i dint talk to this gal for a year n a half. By the way, she is kanwars gf... or may i call it this way .. kanwar is her bf.... both of them make a good pair...
and not surprisingly, bein his gf, she also is a crazy mafia fan... the measure of happiness can be made out by how many levels he/she has gone higher in mafia hehe...
used to chat online before coming to chicago but dont know what happened all of a sudden.. dint even talk once after comin here.. i also dnt knw neither does she, but i would wanna love to find out why that happened hehe... n yea one more scientist in the making....
khushi thanks for all the times, while taking care of us when we got drunk, makin sure that we eat properly when we got drunk, makin sure that we dnt do bullshit when we get drunk.. so basically u play a very important role whn we r drunk hehee...kiddin.. on a serious note,.. thnks for always being there and cookin chicken on such short notices... i actually dnt realise that u also might be busy and hav ur own stuff to do.. i just call n say "khushi aaj chkn khaane ka mann kar raha hai".. n never once u told tht u cant cook today... thnksssss alottt..... i neva realised n wil never... i shall be the same n keep callin u if i feel like eatin n it dusnt matter if u quit eatin meat.. ill still get it cooked from u.. hehe... god bless ...lovvvv

Zenobia aka zen- the first thing that comes to anyones mind when talked abt zen is her camera smile.. she was just born to get pictures clicked... it dusnt matter where when how.. she has to have her camera with her... i think that when you go to someones funeral and if u get pictures clicked there, i guess she would have that smile there also hehe.. but no matter what.. that smile is beautiful, and i will not call it precious cuz she i see it tooo frequent.. a lil bit less of it.. and surely i would have written a poem on it hehe...
I would like to narrate a 3 sentence story here... once i went to her place .. just for dinner.. she started clickin pictures. I was like ok let her do it. I got done, we sat there, chatted a bit, and when i reach home n go online on facebook, i saw that the pictures were already updated... amazingly fast she is when it comes to all that.. hehe
A very cute gal with a beautiful smile, but is very slow in understandin certain stuff or certain jokes.. kapils sister is tht matter.. cuz he also dusnt get half of the things, the mind takes a lil bit longer time to process hehe... she has so manyyyyy questions to ask whenever we meet her, n now m so used to it that i dont even respond, n she will be like "aisa kyun karte ho mere saath" hehe...
its not even a yr that i know her, but spent some very good times at 1204 or her old place (by the way i liked ur old place better thn ur new place).... a gal who has the whole taboo by heart, a gal who can spend hours on the phone, a gal who goes crazy just seein the name of oprah, a gal who uploads pictures on facebook within minutes after clickin them, a gal who likes to gossip and always thinks she has gone slim when the reality is the opposite of it... thats Zen for u guys.... lovvvvv

************************************
thats it... more extras to be continued laters... m tired from work..
but plzz wud love to see comments...

lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv...

M back.............. :)

Ok guys, so I am back and I guess this is the longest time I have not written anything for nor shown any damn sort of creativity and I hate that hehe. I know if not many, there are a few read readers who like reading wht I write. Thanks. You guys encourage me to write.. lovvvvvv you

Have been so long sat, thought and wrote something that nothing is coming to my mind about what I should write in this post, nothing great happening around also, but yeah I would surely want to mention about 2 things in this post that has caught my attention and I always wanted to write abt it on my blog…… but was too lazy to do anything… n
those who know tht m writin a book… for them.. “guys I wil start writin it again.. I knw it has been on a pause for like the longest time, I just wish I was not tht lazy hehe”. Anyways so the two things I was talking about go this way…

So this is how it works. When God makes human beings, he gets all the different colored bodies together and than starts giving in souls to each of them, a black guy gets an African soul, a wheatish gets an Asian soul and depending upon their eyes n height, they get Indian, Chinise etc etc. A white body gets and American or a European soul, so
on and so forth. But as said “no one is perfect”, nor was He on the day of 11th June 1987. There was some mismatch, some sort of mistake and He end up giving an Indian soul to a blonde girl and that’s when she took birth, “the Desi Blonde”. And m very happy that God did not correct his mistake and let her be the way she is.

That’s a long story about how we guys met and I won’t bore you guys writing about that. She is one of the most irresistibly cute gal I have seen till day, instilled with so much of energy n enthusiasm, God knows where does she get that from. Its not that she is with us that’s the reason we call her “Desi Blonde”. There are a few facts which I
shall state that would really prove that she is Indian by heart-

-       She wears a bindi wheneva possible. And few days back she felt like crying cuz her bindis got over. And I felt like crying when she came the first time cuz we bought her bindis worth $30. Who on this face of earth buys bindis worth $30. Crazy. These guys at devon, seeing a blonde with us started saying the rates as if it was some gold or
diamonds. Hehee…. I almost got a heart attack hearing the price.hehe.
-        She carries a Ghajini dvd with her in her purse and apparently Aamir and Saif are her favorite actors and she doesn’t like Kareena cuz she is dating Saif hehehe.
-       Her favorite songs are apadi pode, naka muka (Tamil songs) and pappucant dance saala.
-       It not just that she only listens to those songs but she dances onthem as well, and I don’t mean dancing means moving hands n legs in any direction, she dances almost the same as in the videos hehe.
-       She has an Indian name too, “Chandni”.
-       She knows a little bit of basic hindi like “kya hua, kuch nahi….Tera naam kya hai… tu pagal hai…. Tu harami hai hehe” and when asked “ mujhse shaadi karegi” she would reply “nahi”
-       She can speak hindi badwords too(courtesy us guys).
-       She likes Indian food.. chicken curry, poojas pav bhaji and yea naan, she boxes out only naans frm restaurants and carries it in her purse hehe.
-       She owns a few hindi dvds and she has seen some movie called “kimmat”. God knows where she saw it cuz none of us has seen tht movie.

I always wished that I knew a white who I could literally call a friend and I found one in the form of her. She is one of the most amazing person you would come across, but only whn she aint drunk.hhehe.. kiddin. But a friend worth keeping and it was our pleasure knowing you. We all love you. Come back to Chicago soon……

Ok guys the first story is over.. anyone wants to get up go pee, or get something to munch on or get some beer.. plz do that… cuz the second one is more filmy kinds thn the first. The story which I would be telling, everyone knows about it just that, reading it would be a different experience even for the characters of the story. So here it goes……

Everyone wishes that he or she could date or be in a relation with a guy/gal who they are friends or infact very close friends with. And not everyone is that fortunate to experience that feeling, but two of my very close friends are. They are together, they are officially dating and you guys know who m talking about.

So the saga starts way back in Fall 2007, when we were new here.Vibhor dint use to stay with me but I know through my sources that he used to talk a lot over the phone with pooja... I guess not in the starting but I guess after a few months. They both wont agree to it but that’s the fact. A lot of people feel that they liked each other since a long time. If not both of them atleast pooja liked him. And vibhor, being the kind of guy he is, I don’t think so he liked her the
way she did at that time.

So gradually they started talking and talking and talking, and all they did was talking hehe… n during the early days pooja didn’t have a cell phone, so mr vibhor verma had to call up her roomies phone if he wanted to talk to her. Now most of you will think bein someone elses phone, he didn’t call much.. but that’s not the case here.. no matter whosever’s phone it was, he called up hehe.

Now fast forward one year. Jump directly to December 2008. Nothing great happened between in that one year which I have skipped. Vibhor as usual was flirting around with different girls, one of them was Poojas roommate hehe… a gal bk frm India.. etc etc … the list goes on. And Pooja did not get into any sort of it but yea I guess one frnd of
hers had asked her for marriage, I suppose. So all in all it was a very boring yr when it comes to both of them together, they did not advance much in terms of their relationship in that year.

And at the end of that year, when Pooja went to India in December, she used to chat to vibhor online and almost daily. And that is when she claims that she started feeling for him and missing him, and that’s when she realized that how important he is in her life. This is what she says but sources say it different. Sources say that she liked him
from before but this distance might have just aggravated that feeling in her. And I guess that is true. Its kinda filmy, you don’t realize when you close to each other but than when you go apart.. thts when u start feeling.

Alcohol is a human’s best friend. It brings out all the truth that has been dormant inside you. And that’s what happened with Pooja. One fine night at 1204, she got a lil bit drunk and told out that how he likes him and all. And I guess this was the time when vibhor actually started thinking seriously about her. Before that she was just a very
close friend who used to talk to him, cook for him, go out with him, tolerate him and someone he could tease as much as he wanted to, irritate her to the core, etc. But I guess this was the time he started to think actually if he could be or not be with her.

And then came the day when both of them mutually agreed to date officially. It was at Mandys. We were partying. Everyone was dressed in white. And we have started this new thing where we dance a lot instead of playing games which we used to do before. So everyone was dancing, n the highlight of the dance was Mohit who showed his Mangal Pandey dance, getting up right off his sleep and dancing hehe.. Then the couples started getting cozy, arms in arms n started dancing on slow tunes played by ME.. hehe.. poor me I had no one to dance with so I had to play the music. And a part of the credit goes to me cuz if not for my songs, their “milan” would not have been possible, atleast on that night. I don’t know what they talked, what he said, what she said. But I get a call after like 2 3 days from vibhor saying that he is now dating her.

If asked me before, I would still say a NO for both of them being together cuz I know both of them, they way too different, they aint opposite else they would attract, but I feel they way to different. But I might be wrong, I see both of them together, they are happy and that’s wht matters at the end. I am very happy for both of you guys. And no matter whatever I say or I feel, its you guys who have to be in it and live it, and if needed I am always there by you.

Ok guys so that was it… I guess this shall be my longest post till today… had to be.. I was writing after so long and plus I havnt forgotten writing hehe.. so m happy about that. I hope loads of comments plzz…thts the only force that drives me..hehe…and guys if you want to add anything plzzz do…. Be my sources… I lov that hehe…

 cheers… lovvvvvv..

You grew up in India in the 90's when....

1) You know the words to ‘In-pin-safety-pin’ and ‘akkad-bakkad’ by heart
2) Cricket is almost a religion for you, and you idolize at least one of Kapil Dev/Rahul Dravid/Sachin Tendulkar/Saurav Ganguly
3) You have read at least some Chacha Chaudhary or Tinkle comics
4) You’ve watched Shaktimaan on TV at least once in your life. And you can immediately recognize the character when you see him.

7) You watched Cartoon Network, and then the late night movies on TNT that came after Cartoon Network ended.

Indian kids that GREW UP in the 90s remember and identify with).
35) Barbies for girls, and GI Joes for boys were the ultimate status symbols. You just wanted more more more and more. And how can I forget Hot Wheels, for both boys and girls? I personally have a collection of over 200 little Hot Wheels cars.
36) You have worn Osh-Kosh B’gosh and United Colours of Benetton clothes while growing up. 47) For the longest time, the Maruti 800, the Premier Padmini, THE Fiat, and THE Ambassador were the only cars you saw on the road, and the Contessa was cool because it was bigger.

49) You spent a good part of 1998 drooling over the Hyundai Santro and the Daewoo Matiz , debating which one was better.
50) You used to Fuzen gum. You also chewed Big (big) Babool and/or Boom Boom Boomer chewing gum. They were bright pink and disgusting tasting, but you loved them for the temporary tattoos.

62) When all backpacks (or 'schoolbags') and water bottles and tiffin boxes had strange cartoon characters that were hybrid versions of seven or eight different characters, and you still bought them, because a green man wih a water pistol, boots, a jet-pack, Johnny bravo hair, a rajasthani mustache, gloves, and underwear (long johns) over his pants, called 'Mr. X' was OBVIOUSLY a status symbol.
63) You remember the Nirma tikia jingle.
64) You remember the Nirma girl.
65) You remember the 'doodh doodh' ad and also the 'roz khao andey' ads.
66) You grew up reading, if you read at all, some or all of Nancy Drews, Enid Blyton books, Hardy Boys, Babysitters Club, Animorphs, Goosebumps, Sweet Valley series, Judy Blumes, and Tintin, or Archie comics. Because naturally, reading foreign authors made you much cooler than reading Tinkle.
67) Towards the late 90s (1998-99) at least some of us started our Harry Potter obsessions!
68) You absolutely HAD to go to Essel World if you wnet to Mumbai! "Essel World mein rahoonga main, ghar nahin nahin jaaonga main!"
69) You watched the Bournvita Quiz contest on TV pretty religiously. The smarter ones amongst you actually took part in it and had your entire school and your entire extended families watch you on it!
70) "Jungle jungle baat chali hai, pata chala hai. Chaddi pehen ke phool khila hai, phool khila!"
71) Maggi 2 Minute Noodles = ultimate snack (and tiffin, lunch, dinner)!
72) If you grew up in the early 90s, you recall the nation's obsession with Mahabharata on TV
73) In the later 90s, you religiously followed Hip Hip Hooray on Zee. Maybe Just Mohabbat on Sony too.
74) You eagerly awaited Friendship Day, so you could give friendship bands to all your friends, and get bands from them in return. Then, of course, those with the most bands loved to show them off (and on Rakhi, boys with the most Rakhis loved showing those off too!)

75) This list made you smile.

LIFE

First of all i would like to thank madhura.. she also doesnt know y.. but if i hadnt seen tht collage in her profile.. i would have never thought of making one.. and thnks to vidhi.. who taught me how to make it online.. So, this post is about how i felt while and after making that beautiful collage.

I was going through all the pictures.... starting right from the first semester till today.. all those memories gettin back to me.. the time we met.. the time we smoked first.. the time we partied first.. they time we moved in to 1204.. the time we bid farewell to a friend... etc etc... all those amazing memories.. those beatufil times... whch can never b described.. i felt those as i opened each folder and checked through all the pictures selecting the best one.

It wasnt an easy job for me to select like 40 5o best pics... each pic had a history behind it.. had a meaning.. had a memory.. but somehow after editing and deleting alot of pics.. which i hated doing.. i came up with the final 50 pics which i could put on the collage.

Each of the picture in the collage.. might seem to u as a small tiny picture, where yo wouldnt be able even to recognize who r the person is. But for us, the guys in these pics... this is LIFE.. here in Chicago.

May it be Vibhors and Kapils pic... in the first sem.. where they looked like kids from high school.. man ask them those times...
Or may it be the pics after our exams got over in the first sem.. where for the first time I guess we got drunk together properly...
may it be the cruise... where everyone was dressed to their best... had one of the best times in these 2 years... where we won our poker set...
or may it be the diwali celebrations at 1204.. everyone dressed traditionally and all religious.. although its a diff thng we got drunk after the pooja.. lol
may it be the birthday parties.,, mine, raymonds, poojas, vibhors.. or anyones.. where the bday guy wud b drenched in cake.. n gettin hit in all possible areas on his body...
or may it be the halloween time.. where all of us were dressed in the scariest possible way... which turned out to be funny... lol
or may it be the pictures of me n vibhor wearing long hair... man we miss it...
or kapil gettin drunk.. whch is a rare site...
or may it be the pictures where ashiqlal is present.. whch again is a rare site.. given that he used to work much n party less with us...
Every damn picture has a meaning.. has a long lasting.. never forgettable life to it...

All these pictures potray our life here in Chicago. Not all the people are so blessed to get so good friends.. trust me.. WE have it.. so plzz value and cherish it.. "WE" stands for all the ppl present in the picture...

These times aint gonna come.. you never know whos gonna land up where.. you get a job n u may relocate... so till the time we r here.. lets make the best of it...

I would like to thank all the people here in Chicago who made my stay worth... Vibhor, chikka, ashiqlal, raymond, patel saheb.. u guys rock.. lov u guyssssssssss...

N on behalf of 1204 i would like to thank all...
First of all Pooja... you are a part of us.. u were there always... thnks alot..
I am also very grateful to Zen, mandy, payal, gulia, dipti, bharni, bijal, tyagi, kanwar, krupa, priscilla, poorva, sameer.. n if i forgot any name.. m sorry...
you guyss are amazin.. n plzz be the same always... i apologize to u guys if anyone of us hurt u by any chance...

Life is Chicago.. was not as smooth as it seems to be.. we werent friends from before.. noone of us knew each other so well excpet chikka n vibhor..  but as said by some "Friends are the most important ingredients in the recipe if Life".. each one of us met and added our own taste to make this beautiful recipe called LIFE.
And within a span of time, we got so close... and it was not because we did not have anyone else.... it was beacuse we had each other..
Every new day in Chicago was never boring.. every new day was never dull or lifeless... we had something or the other to do.. every new day gave us a sense of security.. knowing that we had each other.. every new day was great.. was awesome and something that we looked forward to.. just never thought that everything does come to end...

Now that we realise that... we look back to those almost 2 years we spent in this place and still smile tears over it.. ask us... me vibhor chikka raymond ashiqlal pooja.. n we wud be the best people to answer u how we feel abt the last 2 years we have known each other..

"never postpone joy".. thats the motto of my life... and we never did postpone joy.. every moment was great here in chicago... some valuable memories u will have all ur life with you.. no matter where you go...

You guys are the best.. couldnt have asked for more...

Love you..... muaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh

One bedroom flat....

Though not all dreams go sour as this one....good to have another perspective....

ONE BEDROOM FLAT... WRITTEN BY AN INDIAN SOFTWARE
ENGINEER - A Bitter Reality

As the dream of most parents I had acquired a degree in Software Engineer and joined a company based in USA , the land of braves and opportunity. When I arrived in the USA , it was as if a dream had come true.

Here at last I was in the place where I want to be. I decided I would be staying in this country for about five years in which time I would have earned enough money to settle down in India .

My father was a Government employee and after his retirement, the only asset he could acquire was a decent one bedroom flat.

I wanted to do some thing more than him. I started feeling homesick and lonely as the time passed. I used to call home and speak to my parents every week using cheap international phone cards. Two years passed, two years of Burgers at McDonald's and pizzas and discos and 2 years watching the foreign exchange rate getting happy whenever the Rupee value went down.

Finally I decided to get married. Told my parents that I have only 10 days of holidays and everything must be done within these 10 days. I got my ticket booked in the cheapest flight. Was jubilant and was actually enjoying shopping for gifts for all my friends back home. If I miss anyone then there will be talks. After reaching home I spent home one week going through all the photographs of girls and as the time was getting shorter I was forced to select one candidate.

In-laws told me, to my surprise, that I would have to get married in 2-3 days, as I will not get anymore holidays. After the marriage, it was time to return to USA , after giving some money to my parents and telling the neighbors to look after them, we returned to USA.

My wife enjoyed this country for about two months and then she started feeling lonely. The frequency of calling India increased to twice in a week sometimes 3 times a week. Our savings started diminishing. After two more years we started to have kids. Two lovely kids, a boy and a girl, were gifted to us by the almighty. Every time I spoke to my parents, they asked me to come to India so that they can see their grand-children.

Every year I decide to go to India ... But part work part monetary conditions prevented it. Years went by and visiting India was a distant dream. Then suddenly one day I got a message that my parents were seriously sick. I tried but I couldn't get any holidays and thus could not go to India ... The next message I got was my parents had passed away and as there was no one to do the last rights the society members had done whatever they could. I was depressed. My parents had passed away without seeing their grand children.

After couple more years passed away, much to my children's dislike and my wife's joy we returned to India to settle down. I started to look for a suitable property, but to my dismay my savings were short and the property prices had gone up during all these years.

I had to return to the USA ...

My wife refused to come back with me and my children refused to stay in India ... My 2 children and I returned to USA after promising my wife I would be back for good after two years.

Time passed by, my daughter decided to get married to an American and my son was happy living in USA ... I
decided that had enough and wound-up every thing and returned to India ... I had just enough money to buy a
decent 02 bedroom flat in a well-developed locality.

Now I am 60 years old and the only time I go out of the flat is for the routine visit to the nearby temple. My faithful wife has also left me and gone to the holy abode.

Sometimes I wondered was it worth all this? My father, even after staying in India , had a house to his name
and I too have the same nothing more.

I lost my parents and children for just ONE EXTRA BEDROOM.

Looking out from the window I see a lot of children dancing. This damned cable TV has spoiled our new generation and these children are losing their values and culture because of it. I get occasional cards from my children asking I am alright. Well at least they remember me.

Now perhaps after I die it will be the neighbors again who will be performing my last rights, God Bless them.
But the question still remains 'was all this worth it?'

I am still searching for an answer................!!!

With all due respect to Raymond....

After a very intense last post. where i got some serious comments, i hope that this post would make u laugh n smile.. this is "Rajnikanth Special"... which shows juss a few of the many things that the superstar can do... here they go...

Rajanikanth makes onions cry.

Rajanikanth can delete the Recycling Bin.

Bill Gates lives in constant fear that Rajanikanth' PC will crash.

Ghosts are actually caused by Rajanikanth killing people faster than Death can process them.

Rajanikanth can build a snowman..... out of rain

Rajanikanth can strangle you with a cordless phone.

Rajanikanth can drown a fish.

Rajanikanth can play the violin...... ...with a piano.

When Rajanikanth enters a room, he doesn't turn the lights on,......... .... he turns the dark off.

Rajanikanth once had a heart attack...... ......... his heart lost.

When Rajanikanth looks in a mirror the mirror shatters, because not even glass is stupid enough to get in between Rajanikanth and Rajanikanth.

Brett Favre can throw a football over 50 yards. Rajanikanth can throw Brett Favre even further.

The last digit of pi is Rajanikanth. He is the end of all things.

Rajanikanth does not know where you live, but he knows where you will die.

Bullets dodge Rajanikanth.

A Handicap parking sign does not signify that this spot is for handicapped people. It is actually in fact a warning, that the spot belongs to Rajanikanth and that you will be handicapped if you park there.

Rajanikanth' calendar goes straight from March 31st to April 2nd, no one fools Rajanikanth.

If you spell Rajanikanth wrong on Google it doesn't say, "Did you mean Rajanikanth?" It simply replies, "Run while you still have the chance."

Rajanikanth can do a wheelie on a unicycle.

Once a cobra bit Rajanikanth' leg. After five days of excruciating pain, the cobra died.

When Rajanikanth gives you the finger, he's telling you how many seconds you have left to live.

Rajanikanth can kill two stones with one bird.

Rajanikanth was once on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and was the first to spin. The next 29 minutes of the show consisted of everyone standing around awkwardly, waiting for the wheel to stop.

Leading hand sanitizers claim they can kill 99.9 percent of germs. Rajanikanth can kill 100 percent of whatever he wants.

There is no such thing as global warming. Rajanikanth was cold, so he turned the sun up.

Rajanikanth can set ants on fire with a magnifying glass. At night.

Rajanikanth has a deep and abiding respect for human life… unless it gets in his way.

It takes Rajanikanth 20 minutes to watch 60 Minutes.

Rajanikanth once shot down a German fighter plane with his finger, by yelling, "Bang!"

In an average living room there are 1,242 objects Rajanikanth could use to kill you, including the room itself.

Behind every successful man, there is a woman. Behind every dead man, there is Rajanikanth.

Rajanikanth destroyed the periodic table, because Rajanikanth only recognizes the element of surprise.

Rajanikanth got his drivers license at the age of 16 Seconds.

With the rising cost of gasoline, Rajanikanth is beginning to worry about his drinking habit.

The square root of Rajanikanth is pain. Do not try to square Rajanikanth, the result is death.

When you say "no one's perfect", Rajanikanth takes this as a personal insult.

This is what happens at IIT.. except 1204!!!

This is a mail sent by someone to his roommates cuz he wis sick n tired of them.. hehe.. n this is what generally happens here.. cuz everyone is studyn.. noone is earning too much n plus noone has the time to do shit for others... n especially ppl u dnt tk care of themselves hehe..
So these are certain rules which are established within the roommates so that the work as well as responsibility is equally distributed..
trust me guys.. this happens alot... n i wont disclose the name here... so here it is... the "Mail of Rules"....
The words in Italic and in a different color r written by me.. juss to make it a lil bit funny.. as such the mail in itself is funny...

Rules and regulations for apt ****
1st of all HAPPY NEW YEAR 2 u all...may u succeed in everything..n get
4.0 gpa eveytime :)(
ok the start has been good.. i guess the roommates are expectin a happy holiday mail.. poor guys dnt knw wt they hav to go through the next ten mins)

newayz following are few rules to maintain our own place: ****
happy 2 see now we r gang of 4..n hope we will get place in south
commons and can be together till the time we graduate :)(
nah plzz dnt come to south commons..hehe.. kiddin.. n look at him he is gatherin everyone in his comfort zone by makin them a so called "GANG".)

so lemme start with cleaning first.(
ok then start, who is stoppin u.. thers the vaccum n the mop)
cleaning of the whole house will be done once a week..if not..once in
two weeks for sure..now who will do what will be written on stick
notes on fridge.(
oh stick notes.. so cute... rachel used to do that for monica in FRIENDS)
cleaning includes vaccum d whole place..XYZ n PQR their own
room..me n ABC ours..plus bathroom kitchen n floor all common

Groceries: groceries will be taken care by everyone. stuffs from devon
i will try and get every month. but theres no guarantee so everytime 2
persons are suppose to get b4 the whole freezer is empty :P
(which 2 guys will go, wont b written on the sticky notes??? :( i wil miss it)

talking abot milk bread and regular groceries..please everyone give a
call to a person whoever is home and ask wether to get anything or
not..and please get stuffs which ever are over
so theres gonna b no turns for jewel and stuffs. just get it
accordingly. and if the participation is not by everyone may be we
need to buy on our own...i guess no 1 want tht scene..so please guys!
(and even if you want that scene where you buy your own... still call the other person at home and ask what he wants and then dont get it.,. so that you can tk revenge for such a selfish act.. lol)

cooking and utensils: cooking and washing utensils will b done by
everyone. if any one wishes to chuck one activity, he will have to do
twice the nother one ,,makes sense yeh
so please reply back if u r in for both or just one..so accordingly we
cn write down the schedule
and yeh dishes and glasses to be washed immeditaley after use
(preferred) anyways they have to be washed by own..m also getting hang
of it coz m d culprit in here..hehe...
( the other 3 guys go for washing the utensils.. cuz as such plates n spoons n stuff wil b cleaned by all.. so gues whch is easier .. cookin for 4 or juss cleanin like a couple of cookers.. thnk thnk... n yea the writer dint mention abt cuttin vegetables.. i guess he takes the responsibility for dng that)

cooking and washing includes lunch and dinner..i guess moreover
dinner..coz no1s home for lunch..
Talking about breakfast its on our own thus even washing utensils of
breakfast is on our own. and yes even dabbas and all will be made n
wahsed by own.
(dabbas-- ???????????????????????? )
P.S personal allies allowed...bt work has  b done in any case :)
( i love the way u put smileys after anything bad u say)

So cooking washing cleaning is done..now some personal stufs
There are shelves given to everyone..specialy which is close to
bathroom..keep all your personal stuffs there..and if anyone needs
nethng from sum1 elz compartment...PLEASE ASK so n grab it..
(what if someone asks and the other guy says no.. so i guess grabbing is better when he is not around)
similalry applies to personal food stuffs..Chips coldrinks n stuff lik
tht wont be counted in comon groceries..those are completely personal
and to be asked to d person b4 havin it..even juices and stuff will be
counted as personal i guess...
(so only milk n bread in common.. u malnourished kids)
i hope u ppl got wat i m trying to convey...coz everones down wid
money n stuff..so its shdnt b i dnt use it n i hvta pay for it kinds..
(trust me guys but this way it comes more expensive than sharing..m nt kiddin this time)
PS : DONT NOT TAKE THINGS FOR GRANTED!
(writin in capitals means bein "LOUD")

anyways thanx 2 _______ for sharing his laundry detergent and many other stufs
(by sayin this he is gettin atlst one person to b with him.. he dusnt want all of them to go against him hehe)
ok i frogt...about the rent and bills....PLEASE from this time..pay
all d fking amount on time..specialy the housing rent should be

(not to maintain, but to destroy)
all are in the same condition..so please dont gudge d person..
(they have already done that.. this line shud be in the starting)
