Its our appt number.. our home.. and moreover it is our identity....
I have talked alotttt about myself.. my roomies and my friends here.. but today m gonna give some credit to this place.. whch shelters the 5 of us.. not only the 5 of us.. it has been home to almost every person i have mentioned in this blog and many more...
1204 has a very long history with it.. its exactly been a yr we have been stayin here and it has seen N number of faces.. good as well as bad.. happy as well as sad.. beautiful as well as ugly... genuine as well as fake... there have been moments of emotions... some moments that have tickled our funny bones.. there have been fights here within us and you just name anythin... it would have taken place in 1204....
let me go room by room.... oh by the way its a 1BHK...
yea so let me start with the bedroom.... whch is dedicated to only one person... mr kapil gaur... we dnt call it as a bedroom.. we call it "kapils room"... cuz hes the only one who sleeps thr.. and ask the reason why... cuz he needs to put on the AC all 12 months.. bade log... n has a natural insulatin towards cold.. hehee... yea so this room is walled with another appt where a cop stays...
shoutin in tht room is forbidden.. lol.. cuz once he literally knocked the walls whn we were partyin.. so this is a room .. quite n peaceful.. ppl who come to our room.. n who wanna talk to respective gfs n bfs go to tht room n talk.. n for the other roomies.. its juss a wardrobe.. or u can call it a changin room... lol..
lets come outside to the hall now...
it a multipurpose room.. it functions as a hall.. a bedroom.. a dining room.. a party room.. etc etc... 4 of the 5 guys sleep in this room... the big ass tv is in tht room.. ppl sit n eat food in this room.. hookah this room.. party this room.. i pity the room... has to bare so much.. lol... every single thng in this room reminds tht bachelors stay thr.. may it b from the liverpool n movie posters on the wall (courtesy raymond).. to the closet almost filled wit more thn 15 perfume bottles... to the burn marks left on the carpet cuz of hookah... and all the sockets plugged in with hell lot of chargers...
theres a kitchen too.. whr the sink is always overflooded with vessels.. we do clean up once in a bit.. lol.. n the most prominent member of this place is pranay.. but have been cookin less of late.. god knws wts gone into us.. we have started tryin new places to eat.. lol.. anyways the one thng u wud find most of the times in our fridge is BEER... man i lov it.. lol.. rather we love it...
So in short this ws the physical description of our room... but yea how can i forget the lovely balcony... its the "smokin zone" of 1204... no matter whch season it is.. even if its 100 F or 0 F... raymond has to go out to smoke atlst 5 times a day... not juss him.. its for almost all of us.. bt nt as frequent as him.. yea so this was abt the room..
Now ill try n list out diff memorable moments in 1204.. but i dnt thnk so i wud b able to put thm all together.. or may b recall all of thm but i wud write wateva i recall...
the most memorable thng i guess is the change we guys hav seen in ashiqlal.... trust me guys... u shud hav seen him in our old house.. he was so mannered n silent n calm.. a guy who used to go into the bathroom to change his clothes now moves arnd in his boxers all the time.. lol.. someone who used to pray every morning he got up.. now abuses his other roomies .. n tht too in gujju.. once he gets up... the biggest n the fastest change u cud ever see in someone...
one more major change seein in this room is... the change seen in Vibhor.. by change in him i mean his livin habbits n cleanliness stuff.. i remem him whn he used to stay at prarie... man... trust me u wud never find a more dirty guy thn him.. lol... but now he is civilized... way better thn before... takes decent care of his shoes and socks.. whch dnt stink no more... lol.. but still wets the whole bathroom whn he goes in for a shower.. i seriously dnt understnd how.. lol...
1204 has been like a dharamshala... trust me guys if i start countin the ppl who have stayed here.. like temporarily.. it will be surely more thn 20... people who dint have a place to stay have come here.. ppl new to chicago hav come here.. ppl who were here juss for a few days have come here... thr has hardly been times when we have cooked only for the 5 of us... thr have always been ppl comin.. eatin.. drinkin... hookahing... etc etc at our place...
and more thn ourselves.. like indiviually ppl recognize us as 1204... 1204 has become a common means of talkin.. like whn we talk... noone says thr party at pranays or raymonds place.. they say its at 1204... .. and 1204- this is where the party starts....
apart from the good thngs.. 1204 has seen some fights n tears too.. times whn there have been shoutin and abusin at each other at the top of their voice.. times when 2 of us dint talk to each other for a few days... some of the fights whch i can remember were.. the ones between vibhor n kapil.. lol.. n i guess this wil carry on forever but still aftr all this.. whn we see.. both r stil together... they have this cold wars.. god knws for wht reasons... i stil remember.. its was in 1204.. whn both these guys were nt talkin for over a month.. n thn like a fuckin filmy hero... vibhor enters the house at 12 at night on kapils bday... hugs him n hes all "bas tu hi mera bhai hai n all tht" n tht too whn he was nt drunk.. hehee...
noone wud imagine tht asiqlal can fight.. but he does n does it badly... it has happened wit me n vibhor.. lol.. n wt he does is tht he reminds u of the past... k tune yeh kiya tha n woh kiya tha..
but whatever it may be.. there have also been times whn ppll thought of movin out of the place.. rentin some othr appt.. but somhow everyone has been glued togther here.. in this place... whr ppl thnk 5 ppl stayin togther is nt easy.. we have showed tht it is easy... "yes we can".. lol
there r ppl i know... who like bein wit us.. in our appt.. partyin.. juss comin over.. sittin talkin.. playin all sorts of games.. like poker.. mafia.. dumb charades... taboo.. or juss.. sittin watchin movies.. or matches... thnks to all those... who genuinly like 1204... n thr r some ppl i know who dnt like 1204.. thr r some ppl who feel we aint good for nothin.. u suck.... lol... dnt matter to us...
1204 has a lot of memories here in chicago.. its nt tht we dnt realise how imp a part of us it is... we do know.. just that we gonna miss thiss place like anythin once we leave Chicago... this is one place where we all have been together... for everyone this appt is imp in some or the other way... may it b any day of the week no matter wht.. i have always seen frnds here.. nt juss for us but also for others.. this appt is quite memorable...
all in all... this is one house whch holds most of the memories... n m damn sure who ever replaces us guys wont b able to carry on the legacy.. m damn sure abt tht.. nt tht i say we r too good or anythin but i feel tht 1204 is wht we guys make it... and to all my roommates... u rock... u make this place heaven...
1204 has made its own name cuz of u guys... 1204 is a common meetin place cuz of us... 12o4 has experienced all the occassions.. all the emotions.. all the fun.. all the sadness.. just cuz of us... and trust me... wherever you go in this world... if u find a better place thn 1204 to stay.. i will loose anythin u say...... 1204 rocks.. 1204 rules... and noone can resist bein a part of it... and everyone is always welcome..

its funny how a box of wood and rocks and cement becomes so indispensible in a person's life... nee, i've felt the emotion u described here, many a times... perhaps, it could have been a different number than 1204... where u guys may have stayed and did what you did regardless, 1204 or 4021 it dont matter... its the people who live in it makes the house a home...
I agree Pranay, the number 1204 has truly set an identity for you guys. It's easier to refer to you guys by 1204 rather than just Prany, Vibhor, etc etc.... :)
But isn't it fascinating how you would write about your apt. and still be so insighful about the emotions attached with it?

yea..the number says it all...whenever some1 calls and asks where I am..i jus say 1204..not my iit firends' place and all tht...i don know if i speak for anyone else...but u guys have made my transition into this new place so easy and smooth...i din think it wud be this easy...although there are still times where i feel very low n vry lonely (bec this is what this place does to you), i still know that you guys are there for us...ur place is more fun than any pub,club, restaurant or hookah place....ur place makes us feel (the cliche) "at home"...thanks to you guys i have seen more of chicago than any new person gets to see in 3 months...all of you guys are awesome fun...there is no place in chicago like 1204..only the ppl who have first hand experienced the effect of this place can feel so..cheers to 1204!!!

i cant even say in words ...though i tryin...this is my second home ......being in 1204 i don miss india , n my family ...cuz my family members are there wid me in my rooms ...
yaa u r write .. my roomates, my friends , my life ,watever u say ..but in US they are my life ...now everybody gone to india for vacations, i m missing them like anything.
there are so many things to talk abt my roomies , i mean ..i feels like i am actaully attach to this room as i was attach to my home in india, we actually live like a proper family not just as a roomies, we laugh, we fight, we make fun ... we drink , evrything u can imagine ...n the worst fear is cooming around the corner,,, next sem ....one or say 2 have to go for some coop kind of shit ...n i m goonnaaa miss them like anything ..n moreover 1204 is famous in our university also. i tell u one incident ...i was in the university , i heard some gals talking bat 1204 ...that ..1204 guys are the coolest we have eva met ,..n believe ,me or not we didn't even know them , but still we are famous, ..thats our aroma...

but on a serious note..if ever given a chance we would nvr leave 1204 ...

Happy new year to all my friends in 1204..incl kapil..hehehe....i just met pranay online and was saying him that i am having high fever and feeling bored at work..He was like read my blog....i started to feel as if i was wid you guys reading this blog..GUD job bro...missing those good old days...and also thanks for having a party everytime i come to visit u guys..u guys rock...and pranay keep up the gud work..And dont forget to update on all the fights and gossips at 1204...hehehe...
